This topic details upgrading from any build of Multi-DNC v9.0 or v8.0 or v8.1 that is either a Multi-DNC Server or Multi-DNC Client to the latest build of Multi-DNC v9.0.

In order to update to Multi-DNC v9.0b5, the License Manager must be running v5.0 Build 2.  All v8.0, v8.1 and v9.0 Multi-DNC systems will already be running License Manager v5.0b2.

Your SMA (Support and Maintenance Agreement) must be up to date to update Multi-DNC.  To check this, pick Options - Update License.  You will see a window like this.

As long as your SMA Status shows Active and not Expired - you can update Multi-DNC.

Please update the Multi-DNC Server PC FIRST.  Then update the Multi-DNC Client PC(s).

Multi-DNC Update Installation

First make a backup of the Machine Settings for the Multi-DNC system you want to update.  From the Menu Bar, pick Options - Backup Machine Settings. You will see an entry in the Event Log  - Multi-DNC Settings Uploaded to  License Manager

Copy the downloaded  multi-dnc-v9.0-(build2).zip file to the PC that is running Multi-DNC or to a known location on your network that is available from the Multi-DNC PC(s) if you are running multiple systems.  Double click on the .ZIP file and run SETUP.EXE

Use a local path if you have a single Multi-DNC system, then click Next> to continue.  If you are updating multiple Multi-DNC systems in a larger enterprise system, you may want to unpack the files to a centralized network path for easy access.

You must run the Update FROM the PC that you want to use Multi-DNC ON.  The Installation files can reside on a networked drive, but you CANNOT update Multi-DNC TO a networked drive or another PC.

License Manager MUST be running.

  1. Download multi-dnc-v9.0-(build5).zip and then copy it file to a known location on the Multi-DNC (PC)'s.  Double click on multi-dnc-v9.0-(build2).zip, and run the application SETUP.EXE.

  1. License Manager will be checked and you will see this dialog.

The Maintenance Options dialog will show the last license # of Multi-DNC that was last used and whether the SMA (Software Maintenance Agreement) is active.  If your SMA is expired, you cannot update - you must obtain an SMA from your local dealer or directly from Spectrum CNC Technologies.

  1. Pick Software Update and you will see this:

  1. When the files are finished copying, you will see this dialog.

  1. Press the Finish button and your PC will reboot.

Then pick the Multi-DNC triangular logo from your Windows desktop and this type of dialog will appear:

Each time you start Multi-DNC, this type of a dialog will appear.  This dialog enables you to "check out" a License from License Manager.  The VERY FIRST time you run Multi-DNC, you must highlight a License and pick the Select icon.  The example shown here is using a Multi-DNC Standalone license.

The next time you start Multi-DNC, it will use the same license after 10 seconds if you do not select a license.  Check the Remember my License Selection box and your selected Multi-DNC License will automatically start.

Job BASE is actually installed every time you install Multi-DNC.  If you purchase Job BASE, then those Licenses will appear in the starting dialog as shown in the example above.

Now you can start to configure Multi-DNC.  Please refer to the Multi-DNC Help system for full details.  Thank you for your purchase of your SMA that enables you to install the latest Multi-DNC v9.0
